In food manufacturing, efficiency, cleanliness, and flexibility aren’t nice-to-haves—they’re essential. Recently, we partnered with a customer to design and build a custom bag handling system that checks all three boxes while integrating seamlessly into their existing operation.

At Dynequip, based in St. Paul, MN, we specialize in custom-engineered solutions for the bulk material handling industry. Our approach centers on designing systems around each customer’s specific process, ensuring the equipment fits seamlessly into their operation rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all solution.

The Challenge

The customer needed a solution that could:

  • Handle multiple material conditions
  • Maintain a clean, dust-controlled environment
  • Fit within an existing process layout without disruption
  • Provide safe and efficient operator access

Rather than forcing a standard solution into place, the focus was on designing a system around their exact needs.

The Solution

The final system features a dual bag break setup, built entirely from 304 stainless steel for food-grade applications. Both bag break stations are mounted on an elevated platform, complete with integrated stairs to ensure safe and ergonomic access for operators.

To add flexibility downstream, the system was designed with two different processing paths:

  • One bag break station feeds into a screener
  • The other feeds into a de-lumper

This allows the customer to handle varying material conditions without needing additional equipment or manual intervention.

Designed Around the Customer

What truly sets this project apart is the design process behind it.

From the earliest stages, our team worked closely with the customer—reviewing layouts, discussing operational goals, and fine-tuning details. By involving their team throughout the process, we ensured that the final system would integrate seamlessly with existing equipment and perform exactly as expected.

This collaborative approach not only reduces surprises during installation but also results in a system that feels like a natural extension of the customer’s operation.

The Result

The result is more than just a piece of equipment—it’s a tailored solution that improves efficiency, enhances flexibility, and supports a cleaner working environment.
