The purpose of wastewater treatment is to remove contaminants from the wastewater and release it into another body of water, thus returning it to the water cycle. If wastewater isn’t treated, it has negative effects on humans and animals as it pollutes water sources. Untreated wastewater also harms other industries such as fishing—fish can’t survive in water filled with harmful bacteria.
There are multiple steps in the process for treating wastewater, but the first involves separating and removing suspended solids from the water. The secondary treatment step involves purifying the water with certain solutions.
The aspects of the Slurry Tank are as follows:
- Silos or bulk bag unloaders for storing the required lime for water treatment
- Vibratory bin dischargers to promote flow form the silo
- Gates and diverters to handle the flow of material
- Augers for transfer of lime
- Screw feeders to accurately meter lime into a slurry tank
- Level controls and sensors to monitor liquid levels in the slurry tank
- Agitators and mixers, to blend the lime with water
